Ready Player One

I really enjoyed watching "Ready Player One," and I remember seeing commercials a few years ago when the movie originally came out. The animation in this movie was unlike anything I've ever seen. The avatars looked so real, and The Oasis was so detailed. I would love to know more about the animation style and how they made these characters and different worlds so incredibly detailed. The main thing I loved about the movie was the soundtrack!!! I love how the movie was set in the future, but they used so many classic songs. It made the action scenes much more entertaining, and hooked me from the beginning of the movie!

It was crazy seeing how VR had essentially taken over the world. Considering our environmental situation and how technology is taking over society, this could be a reality for humans in the future. One thing that did not sit right with me was that humans just turned a blind eye to how they were the reason the planet was essentially dead. How could people just ignore the fact that their home is nearly uninhabitable because we were irresponsible and destroyed our resources. On top of them being ignorant to the damage they caused, they didn't even try to combat the damage and try to fix anything. Instead of trying to fix this crisis, they just turned to a virtual world that could give them anything they wanted. This was obviously done intentionally and reveals to the audience how selfish humans are. Of course we just make a world that satisfies us even more instead of taking responsibility for our actions.

I also like how the movie serves as almost a warning to our society. As technology is becoming more advanced, it is very easy to rely on this technology and create a life within video games and social media. It doesn't matter how much of a life you can build for yourself on any of these platforms, it doesn't compare to the real like that we need to live in the real world. Games and social media can be fun when used in moderation, but when we become addicted to these things we are never satisfied with our real lives. Living in the present is so important for all of us. We need to experience real things and have real human interaction. If we live as avatars, are we even human? It relays this very important message throughout the movie. The game gave many players an altered sense of reality, they believed their avatars were more real and were capable of more than themselves. Wade didn't realize all of the life he was missing out on until he met Samantha. Their love made them realize that life is worth living in the real world, and meeting their online friends in person made them realize they have real relationships to build in the real world. Human interaction keeps us grounded, and it is ultimately what unites us all.

This movie was definitely one of my favorites, and I believe the message is so important to our generation who are so easily consumed with technology in our daily lives. It is also very interesting seeing all of the details of their interpretation of the future of humanity and the advancement of technology.
